There is no doubt that the CS2 case opening scene is competitive. We hear about new sites coming all the time, and there isn’t enough time in the day to join and review them all. However, we can say that from time to time, we come across a site that offers something that helps it stand out from the crowd. And let’s be honest, that’s very important.
Of course, a case-opening site isn’t only about unique features; a successful site must also give users the basic features everyone who opens cases has come to love. And not only have them, but even basic features need to have certain standards for the site to become a serious contender in the case-opening scene.
Today, we’re reviewing a site that does a good job covering the basics and has a couple of features that we love. Sure, some things about the site are distracting. However, once we learned our way around the features and started opening cases, we hardly even noticed those things anymore.
We’d also like to mention that DatDrop has added a few very nice details. We can tell they really put some thought into making the site user friendly and giving users what they want.
So, join us as we review DatDrop, a site we think you’ll love.
Here’s a quick snapshot of what you’ll have access to when you join:
- Cases: at the time of writing, there were over 190 different cases to choose from, including free cases. In this DatDrop review, we’ll break down the case categories and what they offer.
- Upgrades: select items and/or use your balance to risk upgrading to a better skin or item. Be warned: It’s possible to walk away with nothing.
- PVP: typically known as case battles. However, DatDrop does this the right way. There are lots of modes, including battle royales. We’ll cover all of the options in this DatDrop review. You won’t want to miss that for sure.
- Royale Race: a weekly event that rewards the most active players with a free 72-player battle royale.
- Partnerships: gives you the ability to earn money through DatDrop.
- Free cases: free daily cases are always nice.
- Giveaways: hourly, daily, and weekly giveaways.
- Stats: not so important. However, it’s a cool way to follow your past.
- Followers: you can build a community directly on the site. And can notify them with any new DatDrop promo codes you create to make money. Cool stuff.
- Transparency: a provably fair system keeps things transparent and fair.
That’s just a snapshot. We’ll dive deeper into what’s available and how everything works and point out the attention to detail that makes opening cases on DatDrop well worth it. Let’s go!
DatDrop Case Opening Experience
The first thing that jumped out at us was the homepage’s busyness. Well, the busyness isn’t that bad, and once you adjust to it, it actually becomes kind of convenient.
So, why does it look so busy? DatDrop puts a snapshot and entry point to each feature directly on the homepage, giving users an overview of what’s happening and quick access to it.
Overall, our experience on DatDrop has been very pleasant. It took a while to navigate the site and grasp its features, but once we did, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and the features.
The first thing we’ll discuss is the navigation, usability, and design. Then, we’ll jump into the site offerings and our thoughts.
Navigation and Usability
As mentioned, the homepage is a bit busy. However, once you understand why, navigating the features becomes very easy. It’s possible to collapse every section on the homepage except for the giveaway and life drop sections. Though you can stop the live drops from updating, you cannot hide the section itself.
We had to spend some time clicking around to understand all of the feature modes and marvel at the finer details that DatDrop took the time to include, as there are multiple modes and lots of small details.
We’ve reviewed several other sites with a lot to offer, and like them, DatDrop has two levels of navigation menus on the upper left-hand side. You’ll find your profile and a cluster of icons on the upper right-hand side. At first, we were a bit confused by those. However, once we started opening cases, we quickly understood what they were and loved each of them.
We’ll simplify things and list what they are here:
- Wallet icon – the money you currently have access to for opening cases.
- Gun icon – the current value of the skins or items in your DatDrop inventory.
- Dollar sign icon – the amount you’ve received in DatDrop bonus money.
- Letter D icon – your Dat points. These are used to open additional cases.
There is also another access point to almost everything on the site. To view this, click on your profile avatar. A menu pops up that basically summarizes everything connected to your account and what the site offers.
Having so many access points to everything may be overdoing things. However, it does make the usability of the site pretty easy. But only once you’ve explored everything, as so many access points might lead to an overwhelmed feeling.
Visual Design and Appeal
Though the homepage looks extremely busy, the site design is a bit basic. The case designs are decent, but nothing we were amazed by. In fact, you’ll probably notice the giant images of a skin or item before you notice the case designs. And we can’t figure out how they select which skin or item to display as it’s certainly not the top skins or items available in that case.
Everything is designed like most other sites, with the upgrader and battle designs being what you’d expect to see.
We like that the designers decided to put the feature snapshots on the homepage. This allows us to get a feel of what’s happening at any given time across the site’s features without having to click around and visit different pages. So, that’s a plus for sure.
Overall, we’d like to see more effort put into making the cases and site design stand out a bit more. In terms of visual appeal, there’s not anything that we’ll connect specifically to DatDrop that will help us remember it over any other site we’ve reviewed.
Luckily, design doesn’t play a huge role in the success of a site. It depends on the site’s overall features and its pros and cons. Let’s take a look at some of those now.
Pros and Cons of Using DatDrop
The pros and cons of any site play a significant role in whether a user sticks around or moves on to another site. Below, we list an overview of what we believe are the most important pros and cons of using DatDrop.
Pros
- Lots of battle modes – team battles, battle royales, equality mode, crazy mode, and smoke mode. Keep reading. We break them all down below.
Transparent and secure – this is always important. - Attention to details – we’ll highlight all the little things as we go along.
- Events – weekly tournament-style events you can enter for free simply by opening enough cases.
Cons
- Lots of rules – there are some pretty complicated rules when it comes to certain things like free DatDrop cases and giveaways.
- Can’t withdraw money – you can only withdraw your skins.
- No live support – if you need help, you’ll also need to wait.
- Lots of battle modes
- Transparent and secure
- Attention to details
- Events
- Lots of rules
- Can’t withdraw money
- No live support
DatDrop Bonuses, Free Cases, Giveaways & Partnerships
Free stuff and a chance to win free stuff are always big hits and can help a site find success. Let’s take a look at what DatDrop has to offer and how you can use their system to make some legitimate money.
Bonus System
DatDrop recently introduced a new DatDrop bonus system.
As far as we can tell, the bonus system has 2 basic points:
- Bonus percentage – enter a DatDrop promo code before making a deposit. The promo code is listed on the deposit page. After making a deposit, you’ll receive an extra percentage added to your balance.
- Datpoints – these are earned by opening cases. Datpoints can be used in 2 different ways, exchanged for DatDrop bonus money or used to open specific Datpoint cases.
We like that the points you earn for opening cases can be exchanged for money. It’s like every case always has a small discount. But let’s be honest, any bonus system is a nice, well, bonus.
Free Cases
Anytime we see a site offering “free cases,” we always have to define what “free” means. Our favorite type of free case is the one you can open every 24 hours without doing anything other than logging on and opening the case.
While DatDrop does have “free cases,” they don’t have those types of “free cases.” Meaning to open free DatDrop cases, you’ll need to reach different thresholds of deposit levels or earn a certain number of Datpoints. The free cases on DatDrop come with a ton of rules. In fact, they may be the most complicated “free cases” we’ve ever opened.
Here’s how they work:
- There are 5 levels of cases. The size of your deposit correlates to the level of cases you can open. The amounts are $3, $25, $50, $75, and depositing $100 gets you to level 5.
- You have to follow DatDrop’s X account to open any free cases.
- Every day, your “free case opening balance” drops by $5.
So, if you follow DatDrop’s X account and deposit $5, you’ll be able to open 1 case. Log on the next day, and you’ll have a “free case opening balance” of $0. Meaning, you can’t open another case for free until you make another deposit.
If you deposit $25, you’ll be able to open one level 2 case and then a level 1 case the next day. Each day, your “free DatDrop cases opening balance” will drop by $5, but eventually, you won’t be able to open a free case until you deposit more money.
Datpoint Cases
We were relieved to see that there aren’t any rules when it comes to opening cases using your Datpoints. Just click and open. That’s that. Every dollar you spend equals 5 Datpoints. So, the cheapest case here is $45. Which is crazy expensive considering there is a 70% chance of receiving something with a value less than $0.08. And that gets even crazier with each case. The top Datpoint case has an equivalent cost of $900. Yet the 70% chance of receiving something with a value less than $0.08 stays the same.
Giveaways
There’s no standalone giveaway page. You’ll see the currently running giveaways in the snapshot section on the homepage. There are always 3 different types of giveaways. And yes, like almost everything on DatDrop, there are rules. However, The cool thing is that there’s an hourly giveaway. We don’t imagine tons of people are depositing every hour. So, your chances might be pretty good.
Let’s take a look at all 3 giveaways:
- Hourly – deposit $5 and spend $13.50 opening cases. The average prize is valued around $5-$8.
- Daily – deposit $10 and spend $27.40 opening cases. The average prize is valued around $50-$60.
- Weekly – deposit $15 and spend $38.75 opening cases. The average prize is valued around $100-$125.
For the hourly giveaway, We recommend keeping an eye on the “players” online and depositing around the time fewer players are online. They may increase your odds of winning. Just keep in mind that you’ll need to spend $13.50 opening cases before you can participate. We imagine DatDrop has these spending amounts down to a science. This means that they likely know the average amount an average user can spend on opening cases before the $5 runs out. And we are willing to bet that $5 isn’t quite enough for most players to reach that threshold. We get it. It’s business.
Partnerships
DatDrop has a robust partnership program with a list of rules and conditions. We won’t write about them here, though, as we want to highlight the feature. However, you can check out the rules and conditions here.
What the partnership feature has:
- Promo codes: generate and share your custom DatDrop promo code with your friends and across your socials.
- Tier system: there are 10 different levels. The more money you bring in, the higher percentage you receive from each DatDrop deposit.
- Withdrawal: you can exchange your balance directly for skins; we love this. Or you can withdraw the money from your DatDrop balance.
- Follower notifications: you can notify your followers anytime you create a new promo code.
- Promo materials: they have a Google Drive with tons of DatDrop promo material.
All in all, the partnership package is pretty good—except for one thing—and we think it’s a pretty big thing. Hidden near the bottom of the page, we found this: Partners do not earn a percentage of the DatDrop deposits made with gift cards. Wonder why?
Sponsorships
If you want to become a sponsor of DatDrop, fill out this form. We don’t know any more information than that. Good luck!
DatDrop Case Opening and Key Features
As you can imagine, a solid site will have many cases and features. After testing them out, we’ll highlight what they are and what we think. But first, let’s look at the types of cases DatDrop offers.
Cases:
- King cases – this is more of a feature, so we’ll discuss it a bit below.
- Come and Go cases – we assume these are limited-time cases and are updated from time to time. However, we couldn’t find any info on how often.
- Hall of Fame cases – the best of the best. Not cheap though. Cases start at $13.40.
- Popular cases – pretty self explanatory.
- Weapon cases – weapon-specific cases.
- Original cases – Standard CS cases.
- Free cases – opened by depositing and spending money.
- Datpoint cases – opened by opening cases and earning Datpoints.
Be sure to review the skins and the percentage of them dropping before opening any case. For example, the “Your dream” case only has 4 skins. The cheapest skin is only $0.08 and has a drop percentage of 99.97%. The case costs $0.35.
Case opening
DatDrop has just about everything we’ve come to expect when it comes to actually opening a case. In fact, it has a bit more. Remember we mentioned the little details?
- Number of cases to open – allows you to open up to 4 cases at once.
- Price – the cost of opening each case. This is multiplied by the number of cases selected.
- Current skin values– the money you’ll get for instantly selling it.
- Odds – shows your chances of getting any skin or item in the case.
- Last top drops – see who got what and when. A cool way to also meet other users and follow them.
- Datpoints earned – the number of points you get from opening each case, which works out to 5 points for every dollar spent. The most expensive case on the site rewards 5,000 points.
- Favorite option – you can mark a case as one of your favorites and see how many other users have done the same.
You’ll want to be sure to learn how to use the case filters. They will save you some time.
King Cases
The King Cases are almost like a mini-game in itself, and there are only 4 King Case options. The way it works is that each case has a set period before the game resets. For example, the cheapest King case resets each 10 minutes.
So, within a 10-minute period, the person who opens the most valuable skin or item becomes the king for those 10 minutes. When the 10-minute time expires, the person who is king wins a prize. The prizes go up in value as cases are opened. The prizes reset each time the case timer expires, and a hunt for a new king begins.
Here are the rules for each case:
- Game of Thrones II – cost $0.45. Timer: 10 minutes. Prize values: about $0.03-$30.
- Milord – cost $15. Timer: 2 hours. Prize values: about $0.30-$350.
- Heavy Crown – cost $85. Timer: 12 hours. Prize values: about $1-$2000.
- Juicy – cost $500. Timer: 6 hours. Prize values: about $7-$3200.
We aren’t sure why the Juicy case has a shorter rest time than the Heavy Crown case. We don’t imagine many people are opening $500 cases every 6 hours.
Upgrade
The upgrade feature functions like any other upgrade feature we’ve tested.
Simply:
- Select the skin/s or item/s that you want to upgrade.
- Decide if you also want to use a portion of your balance or only your balance.
- Select the skin/s or item/s you want to upgrade to.
- Click “Upgrade.”
You can click the multiplier to select different valued skins quickly. Remember that you need to upgrade something with a value of more than $0.50. And remember, there’s a chance you walk away with nothing.
PVP
This is more commonly known as Case Battle. We were more than impressed with the PVP feature. We’ve never tested a site that has so many battle options. And there are actually two battle modes. We’ll split them into two sections: PVP and Battle Royale.
Let’s go through PVP now and Battle Royale right below:
- Players & team play – you can select up to 4 players or select the 2 vs. 2 mode, where you team up with another player and combine skins and share the winnings equally.
- Default – the player who gets the more valuable skins or items gets to keep all skins and items dropped.
- Equality – everyone shares the divided value of all skins dropped equally.
- Crazy – the player who gets the least valuable skins or items gets to keep all skins and items dropped.
- Smoke – you don’t know if it’s the default or crazy option until the end of the game.
- Public or Private – create battles that anyone can join or only people you want.
You can add up to 50 cases per case per battle. We don’t know the limit of the total number of cases. We added 4 cases with 50 cases each for a total of 200 cases in a single battle. Then we got tired of clicking. Even if you select the cheapest cases, that battle gets expensive real fast.
Battle Royale
Let’s take a look:
This is another type of case battle. However, the rules are a bit different. And we love them.
- Players & team play – tournament style: up to 5 battle rounds and 72 players. You can select which cases are opened in each round.
- 2 game modes:
- Default – which is a safe mode where everyone leaves the game with at least a skin.
- All or nothing – the winner takes all. In an event with 72 players and several cases per round, that can be a lot of skins.
- Pay to enter – to enter, you have to pay for every case throughout the entire tournament. However, once you are knocked out, the money for the cases in the next rounds is returned to your account.
This is great. However, if you create a large battle, you’ll either need to allow some bots, or you’ll never get to start. The Battle Royale is connected to the weekly event.
Events
DatDrop has an event every week called Royale Race. Only 36 people are allowed to participate. You can enter the event by participating in Battle Royales. Each time you participate, you gain points. The top 36 people, at the end of the week, get to participate in a 36-person Royale for some legit prizes.
A percentage of money from opening cases goes to the budget; the higher the budget for each event, the better the cases are for that event.
Sadly, we couldn’t find the information on which type of mode it is. It’s likely the default mode where everyone walks away with something. But we can’t be sure.
Account Stats
We always love it when a case-opening site includes stats. Every site always has a limited amount. We’d love to see “most cases opened in a day,” “total value of cases opened,” and so on. There are tons of stats a site could pull.
Anyway, here are the stats available on DatDrop:
- Following and Followers – other site users who you follow and who follow you.
- Cases opened – a total number of cases opened split into solo and in battles.
- Battle & battle royale stats– total wins and losses, win/loss ratio, match history.
- Top drops – overall top drop, top free case drop, top giveaway received, top Datpoints drop.
- King Cases – times as king, total king prizes, top king prize.
We understand account stats aren’t very important. However, they are fun.
DatDrop Community Features
The only real community feature we can find is the “follow” feature, which is a nice touch. We’d love to see a feature allowing us to chat with other users. However, I guess we could just chat on Steam. However, that’s not as convenient. Maybe one day.
Account and Support Services
DatDrop lacks on the support side. Not even a bot. So, if you have a question or need help, you’ll need to email them at [email protected].
Site Statistics
A site with so many cool features was bound to have decent overall stats. And boy, were we right.
Here’s where everything sat at the time of writing:
- Players online – 320
- Users – a bit more than 2.5M.
- Cases opened – 459M. A. Lot.
- Battles – nearing 30M.
- Upgrades – almost 11M.
- Battle Royales – more than 2.1M.
We’re proud to say that we’ve contributed to each of those stats!
Social Media and Community
For a case-opening site, their presence across social platforms isn’t what we thought it would be. Here they are:
- Facebook – 5.2k followers. Way fewer than we would have guessed. And they aren’t active. Last post was May 28th.
- X (Twitter) – 57k followers. And they post multiple times a day. That’s more like it.
DatDrop Glossary
There aren’t a lot of words you need to understand if you’ve read our Datdrop review up to this point.
However, we’ll highlight some keywords and phrases you need to know:
- Royale Race: a weekly competition where your activities contribute to a prize pool. Your position on the leaderboard determines your entry into an exclusive, free Battle Royale, where you have a chance to win high-value items.
- Free Cases: A daily reward system based on your total DatDrop deposit amount. Each tier unlocks a free case. Be sure to check the rules we listed above.
- DatPoints: DatDrop’s special reward currency. You earn DatPoints by opening cases, playing games, and participating in other activities. Use them to purchase unique DatPoints cases or to boost your account balance.
- Battle Royale: tournament-style mode where players compete in rounds of case-opening battles. The winners advance, collecting drops from their defeated opponents, until one player emerges as the overall winner and claims all the prizes.
- PVP: a player vs. player mode where you can directly challenge other DatDrop users in head-to-head case-opening battles.
- Default battle mode: the player who gets the more valuable skins or items gets to keep all skins and items dropped.
- Equality battle mode: everyone shares the divided value of all skins dropped equally.
- Crazy battle mode: the player who gets the least valuable skins or items gets to keep all skins and items dropped.
- Smoke battle mode: you don’t know if it’s the default or crazy option until the end of the game.
Best Cases and Skins
We don’t really like including the best case and skins lists as it’s something that is so subjective. However, we’ve heard that readers love it. So, here we go again!
Best Cases and Skins List
Top 5 cases on DatDrop:
Cases
- Game of Thrones II (but only if multiple people are playing)
- M4
- Katowice 2014
- Easy Skin – we seem to win more with this case
- Luxury Knives
Skins and items
- Glock-18 Fade – we love it
- Karambit Lore
- AK-47 Fire Serpent
- iBUYPOWER (holo)
- Souvenir AWP Dragon Lore
DatDrop Case Odds and Fairness
DatDrop emphasizes fairness and transparency by providing listed odds for skins in each case. They use a “Provably Fair” system, which means every case opening result can be verified and isn’t manipulated. While this sounds great, it’s important to understand how the system works; otherwise, you’re just taking their word for it.
Provably Fair System
The Provably Fair system uses an algorithm consisting of these parts:
- Server Seed: a hidden value generated by the server to keep outcomes unpredictable.
- Client Seed: a value you set, giving you some control.
- Nonce: A unique identifier for each case opening, making every outcome random and independent.
The “Server Seed” is kept secret and only shown to you as a hashed value to prevent tampering. This system helps make every case opening genuinely random and fair. The default “Client Seed” is randomly generated, but you can change it.
Even if you don’t fully understand or check the details, knowing the Provably Fair system is in place should give you more confidence when opening cases on DatDrop.
Winning Chances
Your winning chances on DatDrop are only as good as the percentage of each drop. However, rest assured, with the Provably Fair system and percentages clearly stated in each case, you shouldn’t worry. Just hope you get lucky.
Legitimacy and Regulation
DatDrop seems to be legitimate. Need more proof? Check out this amazing feature called Scam Alert. We know that DatDrop cares about their users. Otherwise, they wouldn’t take the time to create stuff like this.
Is DatDrop a Legit Website?
Yes. Be sure to check out the DatDrop TrustPilot score. It’s a bit lower than we would have expected. Most of the complaints are about support. Which is kind of what we expected.
DatDrop Deposit And Withdrawal Methods
Like most sites today, DatDrop has various methods to deposit money into your account.
Here they are:
- Gift Cards – remember, these don’t count in the partnership feature.
- Zen – this is pretty much the only thing that any site needs. It has almost every method you can think of.
- GameMoney – bank cards and crypto.
- Switchere – buy crypto with credit cards.
- Skins – 2 different methods.
- Crypto – there are 2 different options available.
You can only withdraw skins—just something to keep in mind.
DatDrop Premium Membership
DatDrop currently doesn’t offer any type of paid membership.
Comparative Analysis
When it comes to battle modes and options, DatDrop has some of the best we’ve seen. Everything else is what you’d expect from a top-tier case-opening site. Though we have seen some options that are missing on DatDrop, like TradeUps, it’s still a very strong site, and we were happy to open cases for it.
Rating
Overall, we like the site. Though the design is basic and there’s a lack of live support. We will likely be back to battle and open more cases on DatDrop.
- Design and usability: 4/5
- Bonuses (free cases): 3.5/5
- Customer support: 3/5
- Payment methods: 4.5/5
- Case transparency: 5/5
- Overall Rating: 4/5

Is the DatDrop subscription worth it?
There isn’t any type of subscription or premium version of DatDrop available.
How long does DatDrop support take?
As they don’t have a live chat or bot option, support may take up to several business days. And hopefully, your email doesn’t get overlooked.
How do you get DatDrop free daily cases?
Yes. However, you have to deposit money and spend a certain amount to access each case. The rules are also a bit complicated. We recommend scrolling up and reading about them in our free case section.
What does DatDrop do?
DatDrop is a site that allows you to open cases and battle for skins and items.
Can you open cases on DatDrop?
Yes. That is the primary service offered by DatDrop.
Can you get banned for using DatDrop?
We are sure you can get banned. Like most sites, creating multiple accounts is a sure way to get the ax.
Final Words
We were generally impressed with the site. You have to keep in mind that we love case battles. And DatDrop has some of the best options we’ve seen in a long time. The event will be kind of hard to enter, though. Over 500 people qualified to participate. However, only 32 actually get to play the free Royale.
All in all, we’ll come back for some more battles. And open a few more cases. However, we’ll look elsewhere for free cases. As DatDrop doesn’t really give us what we are looking for in that category. And get chat support. It’s needed nowadays.
